Made it out to Carters Lake Tumbling Waters Trail today! Didn’t know this little gem exists existed and only heard about it when reviewing the AJC’s Top 40 Waterfalls for North Georgia list.

These trails are gorgeous!
Eventually, the trail crosses the river on a very sturdy bridge.
To the left, the river leads to the northern tip of Carters Lake.
Look to the right and you find the lower section of Tumbling Waters Falls.
After a quick selfie, a bit more hiking on the other side of the river awaited.
Then you make it to the upper section of the falls. Quite a pretty cascading set of falls.
From ground level observation deck.
From observation deck above the falls.
Walking back downstream you can see the base of the upper falls and the observation deck on the other side of the river above a cool looking cave.
Walking back downstream at water-level for a short bit, you can see the bridge again.
Once on the other side of the bridge, take a left to head uphill and back upstream to the observation deck looking down on the upper falls.
It looks as good above as down below!
On the hike back, I soaked in the trees even more than the walk to the falls. Here are a few photos of some of the more interesting ones I saw.
All and all, this trail is a sweet little treat for those in North Georgia and while the waterfalls are not the most exciting ones we have to offer in the area, it is a definite trail to visit.
See ya on the trails!
