A colleague of mine just let me know he has two days to burn in London and asked what he should do. I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice, see Rocking London Like the Griswolds and Stonehenge from my first visit, and thought I could offer up a suggested two-day itinerary for him. Maybe someone else can find it useful, too!
Day One
Visit Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guard ceremony
Walk down to Westminster Abbey and tour it
Take pictures of Big Ben and Parliament
Grab lunch at a pub near Westminster Station
Walk over the Thames River on the pedestrian-only bridge
Ride the London Eye
Time and interest permitting, visit Sea Life London

Day Two
Lunch somewhere between Belfast & Shard
Observation deck at top of The Shard
If you are feeling a bit eclectic, try some of the following…
Harry Potter’s 9 3/4 Shop
Sherlock Holmes Museum and Speedy’s Cafe (bonus points if you know what that is!)
Earl’s Court tube station and the Dr Who TARTIS

Additional Opportunities
If there is time and energy on either afternoon, head over to Madame Tussauds. Yep, another tube ride; MIND THE GAP!
If you are looking for something way off the map… the Orbit slide at Olympic Park, is a blast but will burn at least half a day getting over there and back from central London.
As an alternative to one of the days, you could take take a bus tour out to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath such as found at https://www.viator.com/London-tours/Day-Trips-and-Excursions/d737-g5.
No matter what you do in London, you will have a great time in this incredibly tourist-friendly city.
