Hawaii - Day 2; Honolulu
Our second day (our first full day) in Hawaii was focused on doing a Honolulu trip. The "city life" of Honolulu is MUCH different from the laid back North Shore where we are staying. As all Americans should, we visited the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
Truly one of America's tragic stories. There are multiple exhibits at the Pacific Historic Parks and Connor and I were able to explore the USS Bowfin before we left.
They even let him fire some of the top-side guns.
We then drove up in the mountains to the Nu’uanu Pali Lookout for some beautiful views.
We also visited Diamond Head.
Nothing like driving into a tunnel headed for the interior of a volcano cone head.
Somehow, the kids still had good spirits this late in the day. Maybe it had something to do with the snow cones we ate!!
We then saw the blow hole and some very scenic cliffs on the southeast corner of Oahu.
We then drove along the east side of the island until we returned to the North Shore were we grabbed dinner and then went to sleep!
Simply put, there are MANY things to do on Oahu and it is truly breathtaking. You just have to decide what you want to make happen and go for it. I'll leave you with one more piece of advice. If you see a "Scenic Overlook" sign then pull over immediately. They are ALL beautiful – especially the ones you decided to not stop at and then have to take in as you are driving by.
