Hawaii - Day 9; Heading Home
As to be expected in Hawaii, the great weather returned for our last day in Hawaii. It was very clear and simply a beautiful day to say aloha to Hawaii. Connor and I wore our matching red Hawaiian shirts that you can see in my Hawaii - Day 8; Riding the Storm (and the Luau!) Out posting. We flew Hawaiian Airlines from Kona to Honolulu and after several hours there we boarded our Delta flight for the trip home. It left at 4pm Hawaii time and arrived at 6:30am Atlanta time on the following day. It sounds long, but it was only 8.5 hours -- and this time the entertainment system worked.
We really did have a great trip and I couldn't think of a better destination to celebrate my 20th anniversary with Gretchen. I'm also thrilled we could take the kids with us. This was our first ever trip to Hawaii and despite my thoughts before the trip, I really would enjoying going back again if I ever get the chance to do so.
Overall, we took our time and had a lot of relaxed days. There really is tons of things to see and do in Hawaii and I'm betting few folks who have gone were able to do everything they wanted to. So, if you have a Hawaii trip in your future I advise doing what we did -- plan your trip and then execute on your plan. Oh yeah, and be "adaptable" when your plan falls apart or you see a better alternative.
Hawaii, I miss you already and MAHALO for the good times!!
p.s. if you know anyone with a cool old VW Microbus for sale, let me know...
