Two Weeks in Istanbul - Part 4

Continuing the good times from https://martin.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/jazzyearl/blog/2023/04/21/3135078401 and https://martin.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/jazzyearl/blog/2023/04/22/3135438936!

What About Part 3?

You might have noticed there isn’t a Part 3 post. Well, the best-laid plans of mice and men… you know… Underestimated traffic of Istanbul, not to mention the crowds at the end of Ramadan. Anywho, a valiant effort to get up to the north side of the European side. Glad I tried, but things don’t always work out on the road. As we say on the river; go with the flow.

Getting There

I hit the road at 8am and headed to the Metro station.

A quick ride and I was there.

Where? The Metro station by the Galata Tower.

Galata Tower

As the sign says, this thing is old.

I didn’t even know they had elevators way back then, but thankfully it took me up to the 6th floor and only had to walk 2 flights of stairs to the top.

Nice views through the windows, but I was ready to go outside.

What a view!!!

Selfie time!!

You “get to” take the stairs on the way down.

After going up, around, and down the tower, it was time for some breakfast. Oh what a view.

Walking Around

Time to wander around a bit.

Galata Mevlevi Museum

The final destination of the day; the Galata Mevlevi Museum.

I came hoping to see one of the Whirling Dervish dancing ceremonies, but seems they only perform once a week and tickets sell out in advance. I was able to see the dance hall, at least.

Getting Back

It was time to head back to relax a bit and why not take ANOTHER selfie deep down in the Metro tubes? And, a left turn I guess??
