After reading this great blog post about Hamilton waterfalls I was so stoked to go see some frozen Canadian Waterfalls. What I found out was that mid-January is probably not the time to expect them to be as frozen as the beautiful pictures from that blog post (do check them out). To make myself feel a bit better, I decided to see SIX, not just five waterfalls on this dedicated day of fun coupled with a work trip to Toronto.
As this blog posting is almost entirely pictures, definitely take a peak at https://justinpluslauren.com/hamilton-waterfalls-winter/ (same link as above) where Lauren, who was born in Hamilton, provides a lot of details on these falls and has some beautiful pictures.
The Waterfalls
Devil’s Punch Bowl
Great sight of this 121 foot beast a whole one minute walk from the (fee) parking lot.
Felker’s Falls
Buried at the back of a neighborhood is the (free) parking lot for this relatively hidden 72 foot beauty.
Albion Falls
Another few steps away from the (fee) parking lot was another majestic beast!!
Tiffany Falls
My favorite stop of the day was at the Tiffany Falls Conservation Area. Of course… you had to pay to park again! I was nice (sneaky?) enough to give my receipt to some folks driving up as I was leaving.
I do appreciate, especially when traveling for work, parking lots very close to the waterfalls, but I think I enjoy it more when there is just a bit of hiking involved. Not enough to wear you out, but enough to get you into the feeling you are deep in the woods. This very short trail followed the stream below the falls and had several little bridges.
The reward up ahead for the little walk in the woods!
What a beautiful 69 footer indeed…
It screamed, “take a selfie!”
Spencer Gorge Conservation Area
Last stop of the day was a big park with two waterfalls. It was getting too late (as was too cold) to hike up to Dundas Peak however. Absolutely, this is FEE-BASED parking; haha!!
Webster’s Falls
What a beautiful park to walk around and, of course, take another selfie!!
Tew’s Falls
Finished the day at the tallest waterfall in Hamilton (and took another selfie!)
I had a super fun day of seeing some incredible Waterfalls and maybe a bit broke from all the parking lot fees; haha!
