Two Weeks in Istanbul - Part 5

This is a continuation of my “Two Weeks in Istanbul” blog series. Here are the earlier postings.

I didn’t do too much on this short adventure, but I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Bosphorus Strait

I chose one of the many providers of short cruises along both shores of the Bosphorus Strait. I also know I did a pretty good job picking this one out as it was a sweet ride.

The yacht had this cool nautical map of the straight that provides the only connection for the Black Sea to the open waters of the world.

On the west shore is the European-side of Istanbul and the east shore is the Asian-side of Istanbul. My yacht for the day was moored up next to some cool stuff, too.

Further down past the mosque in the picture above is the Dolmabahçe Palace that I blogged about in and here’s another picture of it from the water.

Passed another similar structure along the way.

Then just before the Bosphorus Bridge, you can see Ortaköy which I also visited during my Part 2 adventure.

We continued heading north along the European-side putting the bridge behind us.

Before long, we stumbled upon the Rumeli Fortress.

Just a bit further on our northbound journey we finally saw the Second Bosphorus Bridge.

Once we were clear of it, we crossed over and docked on the Asian-side of Istanbul.

We were allowed a short break wandering around.

So many beautiful views heading back south on the Asian-side; especially of the “Bosphorus wooden houses”.

Just above was the other side of the fortress seen earlier and just below are some more magnificent structures.

It wasn’t too much longer before we were ending this short ride. I was hoping we would get closer to the sites such as the Blue Mosque I was near on , but this is about as close as the boat came to that part of the city.

Taskim Square

I had an underground train transfer at Taskim Square were I ended my Part 1 adventure. Since it was raining that time, I went top-side and took some better pictures.

I’m really enjoying Istanbul.
