Desktop PC Hadoop Cluster

JUST A COLLECTION OF RAMBLINGS RIGHT NOW of a Hadoop playground built on Lenovo H500s slim desktop machines that cost about $200 a piece.

some notes about loading linux on this machine...

I simply changed the boot order to legacy and changed the CSM or CBC or whatever it was called and it booted FreeBSD from CD fine.

For all those who wish to install windows 7 on H500S. It is quite simple. I have figured it out for myself, you would grow old waiting for a response from Lenovo.

On switching on PC press F1 enter Bios. Go to Startup change Boot Priority to Legacy only. Also disable Fast Boot. Save and exit BIOS. On Re-Boot press F12 you will then see your choice of Hard Disk or DVD Rom. Have your Windows 7 Disk in the Drive and select it. Simple and Windows 7 will load and install.

Dont forget to disable fast boot in the BIOS because if you dont your Windows 7 will fail to load basic Drivers like Mouse and Keyboard.  You do not need to update your Bios to perform these operations.

When you have installed Windows 7 leave your BIOS set to Legacy. But you can of course change back to quick boot if you wish.
