Hannover, Germany - An Unexpected Treat
I’ve been lucky to visit Germany a few times before, but this was my first trip to Hannover. I expected a simple industrial town like Mannheim or maybe a boring hub such as Frankfort, but I was surprised to find such a beautiful city. Look at my view from the Courtyard overlooking Lake Maschsee.
The City
Doing the “right thing” by staying up until bedtime on the first night of arrival to Europe, I went out for a bit of sightseeing and dinner.
Plenty to see in the daylight, too.
I love these historic looking Germany streets.
There was a Nazi monument near the hotel on Lake Maschsee which was a bit eerie.
Yep, I walked a LOT and my clients LOVED to walk up and down these stairs, too. I think they were trying to help me get into shape.
The Circus
I even walked over to the Roncalli Circus who was in town.
Oktoberfest
Hannover Oktoberfest started just before I left town as yet another special treat. Yep, MORE walking! Haha!!
After some yummy crepes (and making some fairly obvious jokes about that last picture) I went to the Top of the World!!
I’m sure the snack I just had didn’t help with me getting a little dizzy holding my phone out in front of me for a selfie. And… YES I almost dropped my phone!! Luckily, it got down safe and sound with me.
For many, the “snacks” were flowing everywhere I went.
I figured I would show my manliness a different way. I have ALWAYS wanted to do this and while I flubbered on my first attempt; my second rang the bell. I felt so damn bad arse!!!
Almost on queue, the nightly fireworks show began to celebrate my accomplishment. Thank you, thank you!! Much appreciation!!
From all around the fairground, you can see the huge ferris wheel.
Of course, I had to go up it and just take it all in from above before calling it a night.
Heading Home
Usually I would not show pictures from my travels home, but dang… I wish we could get these in the USA.
And my travel partner… well… he didn’t have a lot to say!!
